Let's try this again shall we! Back on the road again for the Tudors who fought a tough battle against league leaders Worthing - their first loss in 8 games. With a chance to get back on track against a struggling Welling side (and now under a new caretake manager), the Tudors will be looking to make it count and continue their climb up the table.

Founded: 1963
Nickname: The Wings
Caretaker Manager: Brian Statham
Stadium: Park View Road
Capacity: 4000
The History
Founded in 1963, Welling United began as a youth team playing in the Eltham and District
Sunday League until 1971. They then played in the Metropolitan-London League and
London Spartan League Reserve Division One before gaining their senior status in 1976.
Just a year later, the Wings moved to Park View Road before a 3 year tenure in the Athenian
League. In 1981, Welling progressed to the Southern Football League Southern Division and
were promoted to the Football Conference after gaining promotion in the 1985-86 season.
The Wings lasted 14 seasons at this level, before their relegation was confirmed in 2000.
They were then able to win a place in the newly formed Conference South in 2003, before
gaining promotion to the top tier of non league football in the 2012/13 season. However, the
Wings lasted 3 seasons at the level as they were relegated to the National League South.
They have remained at the level ever since and after a 17th place finish last season, Welling
will look to improve upon this as a highly competitive campaign awaits.
The Manager: Brian Statham

The Wings started their season with Rod Stringer, however after a difficult season and a relegation looming with just 8 games to go, he made the decision to step down as first team manager just 2 days ago. Brian Statham who has been assisting with first team training over the last couple of weeks has stepped into the caretaker manager role as the Wings hope to find their feet again under a change in management.
LAST TWO:

LOSS | 15/03 LOSS 3-2 | 08/03
NEXT TWO:

HOME | 22/03 AWAY | 29/03
Played for both: Maxwell Statham

Max joined Hemel Hempstead at the beginning of this season during Bobby Wilkinson's recruitment over the summer, from Chatham. Appearing in only pre-season matches, Max proceeded to go out on loan back to Chatham Town, then made the move to NLS side Welling United in August 2024.
Star Man: Martell Taylor-Crossdale

Martell Taylor-Crossdale signed for the Wings at the beginning of the 2024/25 season, and
has been quick to make a statement, scoring the only goal in the opening day victory at
home to Aveley.
Taylor-Crossdale made his breakthrough during his youth career, representing Chelsea,
which saw him win the FA Youth Cup during his time at the club. This was before he moved
to Fulham’s youth setup, where he was loaned to Colchester United.
The 2021/22 season saw him move to Weymouth, spending a year at the Terras before departing to Gloucester City. Spells at Hendon and Met Police followed before Taylor-
Crossdale signed with Haverfordwest County, who compete in the Welsh Premier League.
After scoring 12 goals in 33 appearances, making four appearances in the UEFA
Conference League, Taylor-Crossdale will look to replicate these statistics as he will look to
continue his strong eye for goal with Welling United.
