Our first home fixture of 2025, is here! Ten days after our away trip to Chesham to start the New Year, we're back to league action, taking on Slough Town at The Focus Community Arena. As we prepare for tomorrow afternoon's matchup, let's take a closer look into The Rebels.

Founded: 1890

Nickname: The Rebels

Stadium: Arbour Park

Stadium Capacity: 2,000

Player/Manager: Scott Davies

History of The Rebels

Slough Town have become an established side in the National League South since their promotion to the division in the 2017/18. However, their history dates back to 1890, where they were originally named Slough FC, playing their matches at the Godolphin Stadium. Following their early years in the Southern Alliance and Great Western Suburban Leagues, Slough began their endeavour in the Spartan League. Slough were renamed to Slough Town following the Second World War, where they broke away to join the newly-formed Corinthian League, which they won in the 1950/51 season. During the 1980s, the Rebels were champions on two occasions, earning promotion to the Football Conference (now known as the National League). Following four seasons at Conference level, Slough experienced relegations, reaching as low as the Southern Football League Division One South & West. They also experienced progression in the FA Cup, beating Walsall on two occasions. Their 2017/18 season saw an excellent performance from the Rebels, earning promotion through the playoffs to the National League South. They continue to be an established force throughout this division today.

The Gaffer - Scott Davies

Scott Davies has been a member of Slough Town since 2018, joining originally as a player. However, he took the role of first team manager in 2022 and continues to play in either defence or midfield alongside his managerial duties. Whether he is leading the team on from the sidelines, or playing in the side, Davies contains a wealth of experience and knowledge, earning Manager of the Month in August. Davies will be looking to avenge the 0-1 defeat suffered in the reverse fixture at the beginning of the month as he looks to push the Rebels towards a playoff position.

One To Watch - Slavi Spasov

Slavi Spasov has been the man to be called upon for the Rebels, having achieved 12 goal contributions so far this season. His form in recent fixtures has been impressive, combining his goalscoring instincts with his creative prowess in what has been a tough period of fixtures.

Having risen through the youth ranks at Oxford United, Spasov has had a vast experience of non-league football, with loan spells at Woking, North Leigh and Banbury. Following these spells, Spasov joined Hungerford Town at the beginning of the 2023/24 season . However, the Bulgarian joined Slough in the December of the same season.

Heading into this fixture, the talisman will look to continue his run of fine performances leading the front line of the Rebels. His attacking threat will be pinpointed by the Tudors defence, as Spasov looks to inspire the Rebels into ending their 5 game winless run.

The Skipper - Josh Jackman

Having joined the Rebels in 2016, Josh Jackman has shown immense loyalty to Slough Town. He joined from March Town United, and has made significant contributions for the Rebels. Jackman operates as a right back and has amassed over 200 appearances. The 2022/23 season was arguably his most successful year as a Slough player, winning the Players’ Player award alongside being joint top scorer for that season. Over his time as a Slough player, Jackman has developed his leadership and alongside Player/Manager Scott Davies, Slough’s squad contains a wealth of experience, who will be able to adapt to scenarios within the game.

Last Time Out - Slough Town 0-1 Hemel Hempstead Town

On the 7th of September, it was the battle between 1st and 3rd in the table as the Tudors were victorious on their travels against Slough. After a cagey first half, with both teams looking to create openings in the opposition’s defence, the deadlock was still yet to be broken until the hour mark. A pinpoint delivery from George Williams found the head of Kyle Ajayi who headed powerfully into the back of the net. This proved to be the difference between the two teams as the Tudors claimed a hard-fought victory on the road.
