OPPOSITION FOCUS | Potters Bar Town (Herts Senior Cup Final)

It's been 10 years since we have lifted the silverware in the Herts Senior Cup and our safety is confirmed in the league, an extra confidence boost for the Tudors is much needed! A short trip back to Hitchin (Top Field) for Lee Allinson's boys this evening, looking a very different team and set up to the last time we visited under Bobby Wilkinson and the 0-1 victory after an Alfie Cerulli goal in the first half. Our opponents will be looking for redemption after losing out to the cup to St Albans last year. Let's learn a little more about The Scholars.

The Key Info

Founded: 1960

Nickname: The Scholars

Manager: Max Mitchell

Stadium: The Pakex Stadium Parkfield

Capacity: 2500

The History:

Potters Bar Town was founded in 1960 as Mount Grace Old Scholars, and accepted into the Barnet & District League in June of 1960.

After a difficult mixture of changes in managers and relegations to lower leagues, it was recommended the club be closed, however the Micky Holson became manager in 1981 and vowed to learn from their mistakes and ended up as Division One Champions.

In 1990/91, The Scholars reached the FA Vase 3rd Round as well as coming back from a 24 point deficit to win the Herts Senior County League Premier. After promotion to the South Midlands League, they changed their name to what it is now known as 'Potters Bar Town Football Club'.

The Manager: Max Mitchell

Max Mitchell joined the club last season as Lee Protheroe’s assistant having been the manager at Welwyn Garden City, but was given the job after Protheroe’s resignation. Mitchell had a very successful tenure in charge of the Citizens before leaving for the Scholars. Mitchell has also managed the likes of Walthamstow, Hertford and St Margaretsbury.

Played for both: Joe Re

Joe Re had a successful season with The Tudors, contributing 44 total appearances in the 23/24 season, with 3 goals to his name.

A strong decision-making midfielder, he took his Step 2 and 3 experience to The Scholars in the 24/25 season, and has made an impact, most recently acting Captain in their most recent fixture v Billericay.

We need all the support we can get, Tudor Army, let's be the loudest at Top Field and get the Tudors some silverware! COYT!
