Opposition Focus | Farnborough

We return to league action tomorrow afternoon as we host Farnborough at the Focus Community Arena! The visitors are currently sat in seventh place within the National League South, as they look to build on their positive start to the campaign. You can learn more about our opponents below.

Founded: 2007

Nickname: Boro

Stadium: Saunders Transport Community Stadium

Stadium capacity: 6,500

Manager: Spencer Day

The Tudors go into this matchup looking to continue their unbeaten start to the National League South campaign, following a statement victory away to Slough Town.

Founded in 2007, as a rebirth of Farnborough Town FC, who were liquidated, Farnborough

FC started life in the Southern League Division One South and West. Their first season

proved to be a huge success for ‘Boro as they won the league, securing promotion into the

Southern League Premier Division. The season after, Farnborough almost secured

back-to-back promotions, losing in the playoff final to Gloucester City. However, ‘Boro were

able to right the wrongs in the 2009/10 season, winning the Southern League and securing

promotion to the Blue Square Premier. They spent four years before their relegation was

confirmed in the 2014/15 campaign to the Isthmian Premier League. They were relegated

back to the Southern League in the 2015/16 season. They were quick to bounce back after

the Playoff Final victory at home to Barton Rovers. After seasons of consolidation in the 3rd

tier of Non-League, Farnborough earned their promotion to the National League South,

following another Playoff victory in the 2021/22 season. Since then, ‘Boro have become an

established National League South side.

The Manager: Spencer Day

Spencer Day has been a familiar face to Farnborough Football Club. Having entered the

management role in November 2011, Day has dealt with both relegations and promotions

with ‘Boro, and has instilled stability and success to the club. Having guided the team to

promotions in both the 2016/17 season and 2021/22 season, Day is knowledgeable when it

comes to connecting with his players, with his extensive knowledge of the opposition,

alongside his tactical knowhow. His eighth placed finish last season was a perfect

demonstration of his management quality, and he will look to replicate this achievement in

the 2024/25 campaign.
