Opposition Focus | Chippenham Town

Right then, it's time to bounce back! This Saturday, The Tudors travel for the third consecutive week to Wiltshire to take on Chippenham Town. Coming into this matchup, Hemel looks to bounce back following last weekend's defeat in Dorking, whereas our opponents look to build momentum on the back of their 0-1 victory away at Aveley. Let's take a closer look at tomorrow afternoon's opponents.

Founded: 1884

Nickname: The Bluebirds

Stadium: Hardenhuish Park

Stadium Capacity: 3000

Manager: Gary Horgan

Tomorrow afternoon, we travel to Wiltshire, to Hardenhuish Park, the home of the Bluebirds. We aim to get back on track after a narrow defeat and a well-fought 90 minutes.

Looking to build some momentum after their win last weekend, the Bluebirds sit at 19th in the National League South with only 1 win in their last 5. Something that they will no doubt be looking to push on and improve as we approach the winter months.

Chippenham's history dates all the way back to 1873 but they established themselves as a firm foundation during the 90's, and having a very successful FA Vase Cup run that saw them compete for the silverware at the old Wembley Stadium in May 2000.

Off the back of this success, the Bluebirds found themselves on an upward trajectory, earning back-to-back promotions from the Western League into the Southern League, and then the Southern Premier Division. After years of rebuilds and changes of management, they finally earned promotion to the National League South in the 2017/2018 season- and some few years later in 21/22, they even found themselves earning a playoff place and an even more exciting Semi-Final playoff spot, eventually losing out to Ebbsfleet, who were promoted that year.

The manager: Gary Horgan

Gary Horgan is a well known name to the Bluebirds, having been a key player in the 2015/16 season until he became part of the coaching staff for the 2017/18 season - invited to take the management position in 2021, Gary has used his knowledge of the squad and experience as a player to keep Chippenham in the National League South for his second year in charge.

We look forward to seeing those of you travelling in Wiltshire to back the boys, and help support them as we look to get back to winning ways! See you tomorrow!
